Subaru’s new generation All-Wheel Drive Impreza has finally arrived.
All Model Year 2012 Imprezas offer a Lineartronic™ Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that – along with the new FB 2.0 litre horizontally-opposed Boxer engine - delivers combined fuel consumption of 6.8 litres per 100 kilometres – 22 per cent ahead of the superseded automatic Impreza.
New Impreza will also be available with a smooth six-speed manual that consumes just 7.1 l/100 km in the combined cycle – 20 per cent ahead of the equivalent current car.
Emissions in new Impreza with CVT are 157 grams of CO2 per km – 24 per cent better than the current four-speed auto, while the new manual produces just 164 g/km, a significant 21 per cent improvement.
Impreza features sophisticated styling, spacious cabins with a new level of soft-touch surfaces and high-grade switchgear, and other advanced technologies that contribute to its efficiency.
Attention to detail includes the introduction of Multi-Function Displays with a wealth of information for drivers.
Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia, said: “Impreza is the new benchmark for Subaru design and engineering. “It builds strongly on Subaru’s safety commitment and includes a driver’s knee airbag across the range, in addition to dual front, side and curtain airbags.
The Impreza line-up comprises:
Impreza 2.0i – with the choice of Lineartronic CVT or six-speed manual transmission, plus standard Auto Start Stop
Impreza 2.0i-L – Adds electric sunroof, premium Multi-Function Display with rear view camera images, audio with steering wheel control, dual zone climate control air conditioning, rear privacy glass and front fog lights. Impreza 2.0i-L with optional factory-fitted satellite navigation has SMS voice to text and voice command.
Impreza 2.0i-S – Adds leather trim, eight-way electronic adjustable driver’s seat, alloy pedals, HID Xenon headlights and washers.
Multi-Function Display (MFD)
Reminiscent of a high-tech computer game, the large-screen 4.3 inch colour liquid crystal MFD in Impreza 2.0i-L and 2.0i-S helps contribute to better fuel efficiency.
It displays a comprehensive range of information and includes rear view camera images.
Drivers can use eco-gauge and eco-guide screens to monitor the fuel efficiency of their driving style. On completing their journey, they can see an on-screen evaluation of their day’s driving – and even compare with a previous drive.
The MFD in Impreza 2.0i-L and 2.0i-S shows engine stop time and the amount of fuel conserved while stopped. It supports Bluetooth, iPod, USB and digital media and includes a steering wheel switch that enables remote function selection without the need to take a hand off the wheel.
Among the displays are:
The MFD in entry-level Impreza 2.0i displays outside air temperature, fuel efficiency, time, seatbelt warning and airbag indicator. The fuel efficiency indicator includes current and average efficiency, and travel distance. If the driver prefers, it can also be blanked out. It can also aid efficiency by notifying continuous travel time and average speed.
Display selection is made via an instrument cluster switch. It also shows length of time the engine is stopped by Auto Start Stop and cumulative time stopped.
All Impreza variants will be available as both sedan and hatch.
The new four-cylinder normally aspirated FB engine produces 110 Kilowatts of power at 6200 rpm and 196 Newton metres of torque at 4200 rpm.
